After years of family conflicts, Maxyne's father abandoned the family. He does not support the children at all. Maxyne is being raised by a single mother, who is jobless and relies solely on subsistence farming for their food. Their basic needs are not being met at home, including daily meals, decent clothing, and school fees. Maxyne dreams of completing her education and becoming a teacher one day to help other children learn.
